Wondering Where to Find the Vintage and Second-Hand Shops of Your Dreams in Lyon, France?
Looking for the perfect vintage shops in Lyon and thrift store hidden gems to bring back from your travels?
Whoosh- lets dive in!
Vintage shopping and discovering hidden gems is one of the most exciting things to do in Lyon. Don’t you just love the thrill of the hunt? You never know which treasures you are going to stumble upon! I love seeing what I can find and bringing back unique items from my travels.
Top tip: Instead of going for typical tourist souvenirs, why not bring back unique items you can wear and cherish for years! Plus, buying vintage and second-hand is great for your wallet, not to mention the environment. Win- win.
In French ‘friperie’ is the word for thrift shop. You can find many friperies all around French cities and they make for unique finds.
Here is the MUST Guide of Lyon second hand shops and thrift stores I visited and my experience:
Lyon Thrift Stores & Vintage Shops
Look Vintage
8 Quai de Bondy, 69005 Lyon
This is one of my top addresses, with something for every budget. Located at the heart of Lyon, just a short walk from the Vieux Lyon. You will find everything from clothes to shoes, bags and jewelry. Gentlemen, you have not been left behind and you can find clothes too.
Most of the stuff is actually vintage and carefully selected all in a tasteful decor.
Blouses for €25, wool sweaters for €28. Cocktails dresses for €27
And of course to be a 90’s cool kid by excellence you need the matching pins to go with it. At 1 each, it’s hard to pass these up. Scarves are 6 and bandanas 4.
Clip on earrings are €6 and if you’re adventurous and want to go for a unique style, mismatched earring are €4.
Don’t miss the cute ceramic boxes to keep your jewelry and trinkets for €3-4. And make sure to rummage through the suspended basket with outlet and defected items is always a MYSTERY. You never know what you will FIND.
Emmaüs Créqui Lyon
283 Rue de Créqui, 69007 Lyon
Then I headed to Emmaus, Lyon. If you’re looking for cheap shopping in Lyon, then this is it. I always make an effort to pop in Emmaus in my ‘google maps’ and see if there is one on my phone whenever I’m visiting a French town. It’s basically an associative charity shop with volunteers who run it.
Top tip: ‘Emmaus, friperies, and vintage’ are great keywords to pop into your Google maps on your phone when you’re visiting a new city.
As soon as you enter you’ll find small tables and furniture as well as plates, kitchenware and if you’re lucky Lyon antiques. This vase was only €10 (center) and really can add some grandma retro flair to your dining room. These tin cans for €1-2 are great for adding your small objects or gifting biscuits.
I was able to score some cute Limoges rose plates for 1 euro a piece. And in my excitement didn’t realize the sides were silghtly chipped. Whoomp still cute
Moving on you’ll find a small kids section in the the corner with children books, some vinyls.
Don’t miss the downstairs. Take the stairs down and you will find all sorts of books for mostly 50 cents. If you buy 3 it’s 1 euro.
Its mostly in French but they have a small English section. I definitely recommend to pop by down here- it’s great to spend some time rummaging through and grabbing a book for your train journey or flight back.
Back upstairs I found some of their pricing puzzling here. They had Bonne Maman jars for 50 cents. You know the ones you eat your jam from that your mom stores in the kitchen. Would def. rather buy new jam. And these plastic goblet cups for 50 cents each. I definitely think it was not worth that much lol.
I had visited an Emmaus in Montpellier which had similar stuff for 20 cents. So my mind couldn’t help but compare. In general, most Emmaus’ in the campagne or countryside are cheaper. But this one is in the middle of city so I gotta give them that. It’s still definitely worth it to visit and you find some great deals.
Next there’s a women and men’s clothes section with women shoes. I never really found anything here.
The neighboring Emmaus Clothes store (more below) is much more interesting and is purely dedicated to clothes.
Don’t miss the glass display cabinet by the exit. All the jewelry inside is 5 euros. It’s mostly costume jewelry which I didn’t find appealing. But I did see a navy Lancôme leather bracelet with these golden shapes. Didn’t grab it because wasn’t a fan of the fish and starfish.
The cabinet also has small objects. I found another beautiful Limoges ceramic roses trinket box with a lid for 3.50 euros. But when I came back from my travels it disappeared and I couldn’t find it in my suitcase. WAAA. So bummed- must have forgotten it in the hotel.
Anyhoo I read a bunch of reviews that the staff could be rude which put me on guard before visiting. But I had a good experience. The elder man that I asked to open the glass display was happy to oblige and jokingly said you can look but not fill our pockets. He repeated the same thing to the other clients. Haha.
At the cashier, the woman after me gotten these mini strawberry plates I recall saying something like ‘oh those are cute’ and the cashier lady joining in the conversation agreeing with us. So honestly no issues with the staff- they seemed to be in their element and were helpful.
FRIP’ATTITUDE EMMAUS VETEMENTS
281 Rue de Créqui, 69007 Lyon
Right, so this is practically next door to the main Emmaus (above). It’s a pretty big store which can get were busy on weekends. So I recommend coming here on weekdays. They have clothes for men, women and children?. As well as shoes, bags, ties and scarves. Most of the clothes are second-hand. I found there was only a small rack for actual vintage clothes.
There’s a Levi’s jeans rack.. And a Leather section starting at €15. If you’re into fur coats and heavy winter coats I saw a few.
This rack was for €4.50. Climbing up the mezzanine you will find costumers starting also from 4.50 euros.
I saw a bunch of old wedding dresses. As well as a ‘grandma’ section with curtains, knitting stuff, and sleeping gowns.
I found a great beige polar fleece beige jacket for 6 euros here. It felt made by someone because there were no labels inside and the zipper looked sowed on. Thanks grandma. This will keep me warm. God knows I get cold super easily.
Second-hand shoes start at €5. This was their bags collection. At €4, this island straw is a cute way to elevate your summer outfit.
Oh ya guarded behind the cashier I saw 2 Burberry coats.
There was a nice navy wool one for 150 euros. And the classic beige Burberry trench was 180 euros. I saw a similar beige one at a Paris thrift store for €460 (which is wild).
Ya there’s a debate about this sort of thing. This is not one of those thrifts stores where you will find branded stuff for cheap. Most of the designer stuff is filtered out and priced according to market. Which I know for some can defeat the thrifting experience. However, other than designer stuff, you can find some really nice deals here. You just need to rummage through the stuff. Compared to others, it’s one of Lyon most inexpensive thrift stores.

Fripes d’Esaaf
121, Grand Rue de la Guillotiere, 69007 Lyon
Continuing your vintage thrifting adventures make sure to drop by at Fripes d’Esaaf ONLY 2 minutes from Emmaus.
This store is packed with an abundance of beautifully selected clothes, jewelry, bags and shoes, and accessories.
The careful curation reflects the hard work put into assembling a unique collection that stands out from other thrift stores Lyon. The prices were fair and the selection was unique. I don’t think you’ll find some of this stuff elsewhere.
Definitely, a must visit vintage store when you’re in Lyon.
Bloom
25 Rue des Capucins, 69001 Lyon
For a spacious vintage shopping in Lyon experience head to Bloom, another staple vintage store I recommend you stop by in Lyon.
What’s nice is unlike other stores it’s nice and spacious with 2 floors of vintage clothes. Pheew, finally you can catch a breathe.
The prices are also interesting. This delicate cream blouse caught my eye for 15 euros. Also spotted some bags, belt and menswear.
La Pure Second Hand
59-61 Rue Montesquieu, 69007 Lyon
La Pure Second Hand offers vintage clothes in a clean display that are carefully curated vintage items including clothes, accessories.
The clothes are organized by color which is very refreshing for once. They have both men and a women section.
You can find Levi’s jeans for 35€. Women blouses for 28€. Designer tshirts for 15€.
I also found this cool 90’s jacket for 15 euros. But it was too big and not my style. It had like 2 sets of zippers and the cut and detailing was so nice. If someone is in Lyon please grab it haha.
Don’t miss the 3/5/8 € bin in the corner.
I found a floral purple blouse which was knocked down from 28 € to 3 €. Pleasantly surprised at the till thinking I owed 5 euros only to be told 3€. Super nice.
The fitting room is nice and spacious, and the seller was helpful and gave some styling tips. I did appreciate their integrity and they don’t try to sell you something that’s not your style, just to make a sale.
Definitely an address to pop by if you’re in the neighborhood!
Bon Fripe Bon Genre
Place d’Albon 69002 LYON
This is another favorite Lyon thrift store at Presqu’île near rue Merciere.
As you enter, say hi to the adorable doggy getting excited every time someone opens the door (probably to escape) 🙂
The store is beautifully decorated, a mixture of cozy and bohemian with refreshing with flower crowns and aesthetic dried flowers.
You wouldn’t believe you’re in a thrift store. The items are a mix of second-hand and vintage. They are clean and quality pieces with soft prices on the wallet.
The changing room make it super convenient to try on your treasures. A must.

Kiloshop
39 Rue de la Bourse, 69002, Lyon
This Lyon vintage store operates on a pricing model where most items are weighed for price, determined by the color on the tag.
Example with this bag. It has a 20 euro/kg label. Place it on the scale and hit the corresponding color (red). This will tell you the price €11.70 (not too bad).
While it can be a bit premium priced for thrifted pieces, which I can agree with. Some pieces in the selection are still interesting and worth it. You just gotta have a plan and be strategic.
The heavier stuff you go for for example denim jackets, and jeans the heavier and the price higher. So I typically avoid these.
I also shop for fleece jackets elsewhere. I found a vintage one at Freep’star (in the Marais/ Paris) for 10 euros whereas a similar one was sold in KiloShop for 28 euros, with the fabric more decayed. And yes, having visited both stores, Kiloshop prices in Paris and Lyon are the same.
There are also some fixed priced items. This dress is €39.
I love looking at their 90’s jackets section. These are only 25 euros and I found a great one here last time.
This time another one caught my eye, but problem with the zipper.
The zipper holder was half detached 🙁
Top tip: Always make sure to check your item for any defects or holes. It does happen.
I’m considering it wasn’t my thrifting day. Either way, the shop sellers are very nice and chill and it’s definitely worth a drop by to see what’s new.
A Domi Mod
36 Rue du President Edouard Herriot Salomon Reinach, 69007, Lyon
If you’re a lux girl or searching for more premium staple pieces to complete your wardrobe then head to A Domi Mod. This is a luxury and premium thrift store at the heart of Lyon. A hidden gem that’s well worth the adventure.
Getting there: First, head to Rue du President Edouard. At this point, you’re probably confused and won’t see a physical store. The store is actually located inside a Hausmannian style apartment. After ringing the interphone climb up to the first floor.
This where you will find most of what is trending and get to shop the wardrobe of ‘IT’ Lyonnaise woman. From shoes, clothes, bags and accessories, the store is seriously a Carrie Bradshaw heaven.
I found this Soeur blouse for around 40 euros.
Some of the designers you can expect to find: Saint Laurent, Gucci, Maje, Sandro, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Sezane, The Kooples, Celine, Chanel, Zadig&Voltaire, Dior, Ba&sh, Fendi, Burberry, Isabel Marant, Claudie Pierlot, Jerome Dreyfuss
The ladies here are great with their styling advice and the relaxing atmosphere with a quality selection make it well worth the detour.
TripFrip
68 Rue Salomon Reinach, 69007, Lyon
TripFrip is a vintage store in Lyon offering vintage clothes, bags, shoes, jewelry and upcycled items, all in a 70’s decor. They have a women and men’s section and all the pieces are nicely curated. You can find upcycled men’s shirts in fitted tops.
I found a nice Weinberg blazer that caught my eye. However, I found it quite oversize and boxy on me.
There was also a slight defect (mentioned on the tag) which was patched up at the back. I probably would have gotten it if it was my size.
The owner was honest and mentioned it would be hard to remove the shoulder pads which were sewn between the layers. So unfortunately had to let this baby up. Overall, the selection is worth a drop by.
